Showing Pain Through A Smile

There is a kind of pain that does not announce itself. It doesn't always come with tears. It doesn't always look like someone falling apart. Sometimes it wears a smile. Sometimes it laughs at the right moments, greets everyone warmly, serves faithfully, and carries on as though everything is fine. Yet beneath that smile is a heart fighting battles no one can see. Many of us have become experts at hiding our pain. We have learned how to smile through disappointment, laugh through heartbreak, and encourage others while quietly wondering who will notice that we are hurting too. A smile can be genuine, but it can also become a mask. Not because someone wants to deceive others, but because explaining the pain feels exhausting. Sometimes it is easier to say, "I'm fine," than to find the words to describe what is happening inside. Some people smile because they do not want to worry their loved ones. Some smile because they fear being misunderstood. Some smile because the...

The Therapy

There was a season in my life when I reached one of the lowest points I had ever known. There were days when I smiled on the outside, but inside, I was exhausted. My mind was crowded with worries, my heart was heavy with questions, and the future felt uncertain. There were moments when I didn't even know how to pray. I believed in God, yet I struggled to find the words. My emotions seemed louder than my voice. Then, something beautiful happened. Music became my therapist. Not because music replaced God, but because God used music to reach places in my heart that words could not. Sometimes I would wake up with a worship song already playing in my mind. Other times, while listening to a hymn or a worship song, I would suddenly find myself crying—not tears of hopelessness, but tears of release. It was as though every lyric became a prayer I couldn't speak myself. The songs reminded me of God's promises when my own thoughts were trying to convince me otherwise. When fear whispe...

Courage In The Spotlight

Courage in the Spotlight: Lessons from Facing an Audience 🎤 🌸 I can still remember the very first time I faced an audience—it was at the tender age of eight. I was asked to sing the hymn, “My Faith Looks Up to Thee.” At that time, I didn’t fully understand what it meant to sing before a crowd. I was nervous, shy, and unsure if my little voice could be heard. But even then, the song spoke to me. The words were simple, yet powerful: “My little faith looks up to Thee.” Little did I know, those words would stick with me for life. That hymn wasn’t just about singing in front of people—it was about surrender, courage, and looking beyond myself. As I grew older, I reflected on that first experience and realized what it had truly taught me. The little faith I had at eight was looking up to the Lamb of Calvary—Jesus—who faced the greatest stage of all: the cross. He was surrounded by a crowd, mocked and beaten, yet He never wavered. He never feared being hanged on a tree, because He knew He w...

Washing The Feet 👣

Washing the Feet 👣 In God’s vineyard, especially as a leader, we are entrusted with responsibilities that often go beyond what we expect or even feel ready for. Leadership in the kingdom of God is not about titles, positions, or recognition — it is about service. Regardless of who we are or what title we carry, we are all called to serve. We are called to help draw souls back to Christ, not just through our words, but through our actions, our attitude, and our willingness to do even the smallest tasks with a sincere heart. It may sound surprising, but souls can still feel lost even within the church. People come seeking love, guidance, and truth, yet sometimes what they encounter is distance, pride, or indifference. That, however, is a conversation for another day. On this particular day, the atmosphere was intense with activity. Everyone was busy — not just busy, but extremely busy. If there were a stronger word for it, that would have been the perfect description. There were ta...

Faithful Hunger

Faithful Hunger I remember a season in my life when I was utterly confused about what to do. The struggles stretched on, compounded by debts and loans that seemed impossible to repay. Yet, through it all, I never left God’s service. Honestly, I didn’t know why I continued amidst such sacrifice. Was it my upbringing? Was it hunger? Or perhaps a genuine passion for the things of God? One day, an opportunity arose in the children’s department at church. A decoration project needed to be done, but I didn’t even have a single naira to contribute. Yet craft had always been my passion. I stepped out in faith and asked if I could handle the project,   "if someone could provide the materials, I would do it freely". To my surprise, I was given some money. I went to a local market , got the materials, and poured my heart into the work. There is something about joy and passion that cannot be faked. I worked wholeheartedly, and the decorations turned out beautifully. People admired the wo...

Awake… for the Sake of Tomorrow

Awake… for the Sake of Tomorrow One quiet evening, my two daughters and I were singing a song by TY Bello — “Awake sleeping soldiers, for the sake of the children…” It was one of those moments that felt ordinary at first, yet carried a weight I didn’t immediately recognize. As we sang, my first daughter playfully replaced the lyrics with my younger daughter’s name and sang: “Awake oh Aliza, for the sake of tomorrow, for the sake of the school…” We laughed. It sounded innocent, lighthearted. But long after the song faded, the words stayed with me. They echoed in my thoughts. I kept returning to them, quietly pondering, until I realized they were more than playful words — they were a message speaking directly to me. And slowly, a truth dawned. Every one of us wakes up each day for a reason. Sometimes that reason is survival. Sometimes responsibility. Sometimes obligation. Sometimes hope. Even on days when it is inconvenient, even when strength feels thin, we still rise. We wake ev...

The Goodness Of God In The Rejection

The Goodness of God in Rejection  All Things Are Working for Good Dear Reader, For a long time, I believed that the goodness of God was only visible in acceptance—in open doors, answered prayers, applause, and clear yeses. I thought God’s goodness looked like things working out smoothly, like being chosen, understood, celebrated, and affirmed by people. In my mind, favor meant ease, and blessing meant approval. But life has a way of teaching us deeper truths , truths that cannot be learned in comfort. I have learned that the goodness of God is also found in rejection. Rejection has a way of shaking the foundations of our faith. It makes us question everything, our worth, our calling, our prayers, even our ability to hear God clearly. Sometimes it comes quietly, through silence and neglect. Other times, it comes loudly, through disappointment and painful no’s. Either way, it leaves wounds, confusion, and unanswered questions. It can feel like abandonment. It can feel like God has st...
